About CROSS Neutron Science and Technology Center

The Neutron Science and Technology Center, operated by the Comprehensive Research Organization for Science and Society (CROSS), promotes the use of seven public beamlines located within the Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility (MLF) at J-PARC.

Our main activities are as follows.
– Call for and selection of proposals for public beamlines
– Technical support for public beamlines users
– Selection and assessment of proposals  for contract beamlines
– Promotion of industry-academia collaboration
– Dissemination of information
The Neutron Science and Technology Center operates some of the most advanced experimental instruments— seven beamlines located in the MLF at J-PARC.
_
CROSS is a legally designated organization responsible for promoting the shared use of beamlines at J-PARC MLF, and the Neutron Science and Technology Center conducts these utilization promotion activities in accordance with that role.

Approximately half of the staff at the Neutron Science and Technology Center are researchers who, in addition to supporting users, also engage in R&D to promote utilization. This approach is essential because the registered support institution must not only advance measurement techniques and pioneer new applications, but also possess deep expertise to provide effective  user support.
