Procedures for obtaining a Visa for coming to Japan
– for users of BL01, 02, 11, 15, 17, 18, 22 –
CROSS will support users coming to Japan for BL01, 02, 11, 15, 17, 18, and 22 experiments to obtain a VISA.
In addition to the VISA procedures, please complete the procedures for conducting experiments at J-PARC at least two weeks in advance. Please see “Procedures Before You Arrive” on Meet@MLF for the necessary procedures to conduct experiments.
Currently, it may take a while before to get a VISA due to COVID-19. Therefore, please proceed with the VISA procedure well in advance.
Steps to get a visa to travel to Japan

STEP3: CROSS will prepare the necessary documents and send them to you
STEP4: Apply for a VISA at the nearest Japanese embassy

Please schedule your experiment with a beamline staff and determine the date of your visit to Japan.
STEP2: Send the required information to CROSS
Download the following file, fill it out and send it to CROSS.
These documents need to be submitted by everyone who needs a VISA. Documents for multiple people can be sent together in one email.

– Letter of Guarantee
– Letter of Invitation
– Details of Company / Organization
– Itinerary in Japan
The documents to be prepared depend on your nationality. For details, please refer to the website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Japanese embassy in your country.
STEP4: Apply for a VISA at the relevant Japanese embassy or consulate
Please apply for a VISA at the relevant Japanese embassy or Consulate together with the documents you prepare yourself and those prepared by CROSS.
