Procedures for obtaining a Visa for coming to Japan
– for users of BL01, 02, 11, 15, 17, 18, 22 –
CROSS will support users coming to Japan for BL01, 02, 11, 15, 17, 18, and 22 experiments to obtain the VISA.
In addition to the VISA procedures, please complete the procedures for conducting experiments at J-PARC at least two weeks in advance. Please see “Procedures Before You Arrive” on [email protected] for the necessary procedures to conduct experiments.
Currently, it may take a while before to get a VISA due to COVID-19. Therefore, please proceed with the VISA procedure well in advance.
Steps to get a visa to travel to Japan
STEP1: Coordinate your experimental schedule
Please schedule your experiment with a beamline staff and determine the date of your visit to Japan.
STEP2: Send the required information to CROSS
Download the following file, fill it out and send it to CROSS.
These documents must be submitted by everyone who needs a VISA. Documents for multiple people can be sent together in one email.

STEP3: CROSS will prepare the necessary documents and send them to you
CROSS will prepare the following documents based on the information we receive from you.
– Letter of Guarantee
– Invitation Letter
– Details of Company / Organization
– Itinerary in Japan
– Certificate of Registration to the ERFS
The documents to be prepared depend on your nationality and the embassy to which you are submitting. For details, please refer to the website of the nearest Japanese embassy.
STEP4: Apply for a VISA at the nearest Japanese embassy
You should apply for a VISA at the nearest Japanese embassy together with the documents you prepare yourself and those prepared by CROSS.
