SUMMARY:CROSSroads 11 – Functional Interfaces and Reactive Surfaces II
DESCRIPTION:CROSSroads Workshop SeriesCROSSroads 11 – Functional Interfaces and Reactive Surfaces II\n18-19 August 2014\, IQBRC\, Tokai \nThe atomic and nanoscale structure of a solid-liquid interface is one of the factors that strongly influences the properties and functionality of the interfacial system. Understanding the structure of such solid-liquid interfaces is not only of academic interest but is also critically important in many industrial applications. For example\, understanding the interfacial structure of an electrode / electrolyte system can be critical in improving the performance of a battery. \nIn such a case\, the detail of the electrode surface reactions can only be revealed through a thorough understanding of the atomic and molecular reaction mechanisms at the electrode surface. Moreover\, in order to improve the performance of a battery system\, it is vital to understand the electrical double-layer structure which controls these same reactions. \nJ-PARC⋅MLF is now home to two neutron reflectometers: a soft-matter interfacial science instrument (SOFIA) and a polarized neutron instrument (SHARAKU) that is optimized for magnetic interface studies. Expectations are high that these two instruments will yield many exciting research outcomes in the field of surface and interface science. \nThe scope of this workshop will not\, however\, be limited to the potential contribution of these two instruments. Rather\, including the capabilities of synchrotron-based instruments and the latest theoretical advances\, we hope to present a new world of opportunity and possibility for the field of solid-liquid interface science. \nWorkshop details\nDate : 18-19 August 2014Venue : IQBRC\, TokaiRegistration Fee : No chargeLanguage : Japanese \nMore information\nFor more details about the workshop and information on venue access\, accommodation\, workshop reception etc.\, please contact: \nProf. Masatoshi SatoScience Coordinator – CROSS-TokaiT: +81-29-219-5310 (x3211)E: m_sato*cross.or.jp \n\nMore information\nImage Gallery
