SUMMARY:Frontier Research on Bio-membranes and Colloids
DESCRIPTION:The 10th CROSSroads WorkshopFrontier Research on Bio-membranes and Colloids\n18-19 December 2013Room B101\, Ibaraki Quantum Beam Research Center\, Tokai\, Japan \nAmphipathic molecules such as lipids and surfactants can aggregate in a variety of structural forms – (micelles\, vesicles etc.) depending on the relative environmental conditions. Structural and dynamic information about these systems can lead to an understanding of their inherent functions and unique properties. \nIn this workshop\, recent experimental and computational results will be discussed with a focus on: (i) nano-structures formed by amphipathic molecules and their dynamics over a wide range of length and timescales and\, (ii) the interaction between water and amphipathic molecules.
