The 8th CROSSroads Workshop
Neutron Scattering and Nano-second Dynamics – What is the future?
11-12 November 2013
Room B101, Ibaraki Quantum Beam Research Center, Tokai, Japan
The need for experimental techniques that can probe dynamics on the nanosecond timescale is well appreciated in many areas of research; particularly in the study of soft matter, bio-materials and ion transport in solids.
There has been high hope and expectation for many years that with a suitably powerful source and appropriately-designed instrumentation, neutron scattering would become a forefront tool in nanosecond dynamics studies thanks to its unique characteristics and capabilities.
Instruments with the power to realize this potential have been constructed and are now in operation at J-PARC.
This workshop aims to highlight examples of nanosecond-scale dynamics studies that have been carried out in the past using a variety of techniques and provide an opportunity for open discussion on how the instruments at J-PARC might most effectively contribute in this important area of research.
